Everjoy and DV Games already worked together: Everjoy publishes DV Games' Bang! in Vietnam. At SPIEL Essen, the two teams met to discuss games in both directions, and Bunny 100 happened to be sitting on Everjoy's table. "As soon as me and Vincenzo sat down, we spotted Bunny 100 on your table. And we were like, okay, this game really caught our attention." — Andrea Besana, DV Games That same evening, the DV Games team played it at their hotel with CEO Roberto and colleagues from the sales team. "As soon as we opened the box of Bunny 100, we really had a brilliant time. The game, in all its simplicity, really creates a hilarious dynamic around the table." — Andrea Besana By the last morning of the fair, DV Games was back at the Everjoy booth asking for the European rights. The deal was signed shortly after.
The rules fit in one sentence: players count from 1 to 100 together, but whenever a number matches an active challenge card, they must do an action, like snapping their fingers or waving, instead of saying the number. The player who reaches 100 with the fewest penalty tokens wins. For Andrea, the appeal was how many kinds of players it reaches: children learning to count, teenagers looking for a fun night, and experienced gamers who want ten or fifteen minutes of light fun after a heavy game. Combined with an affordable price and eye-catching art, that made the decision easy. Vincenzo saw a second signal. DV Games publishes Taco Cat Goat Cheese Pizza in Italy, where it is selling strongly, and Bunny 100 felt immediately compatible with that success.
DV Games kept the core of the game and made a few targeted changes: • Three difficulty levels: Baby Bunny, Rabbit and Clever Cottontail, each adding new actions and trickier rules. • Small cover adjustments: a few colours were changed so the box reads better on European shelves. • Clearer card art: for example, the "pinch your cheeks" card now shows the bunny pinching its own cheeks. • Optional contact challenges: groups can choose to remove cards that involve physical contact. "We feel we captured its essence and we made it even more compatible to Europe and Italy." — Vincenzo Ricci, DV Games
The conversation also offered practical advice for designers and publishers in the region hoping to reach Europe. Originality comes first. Both guests said European players feel they have tried everything, and Asian games are succeeding because they break familiar patterns. "These games are quirky, atypical, fresh and new… It's not a matter of complexity, it's a matter of how fresh it is, how different it feels." — Vincenzo Ricci Accessibility wins across borders. According to Vincenzo, the games that travel best can be enjoyed both by regular players and by people who have never touched a board game. Art can make or break a market. Andrea pointed to a DV Games title that had a first print run of 12,000 copies in France but drew almost no interest in Germany because of its cover. When a game's theme is clearly Asian, DV Games prefers to highlight it, as it did with Sensu, inspired by Japanese fans; for abstract games, the art is more likely to change. "Designers and publishers that want to bring their game to the European market have to be open-minded about giving the European partner the artistic direction." — Andrea Besana Vincenzo confirmed that DV Games expects to bring more Asian games into its catalogue.
Bunny 100 will be released in Italy, Spain and France by DRelease and full episodeV Games. The release date will be announced on DV Games' and Everjoy's channels. "If you've never played it, over 30,000 players in Vietnam can't be wrong." — Ionah Nguyen, CEO, Everjoy Global About DV Games Founded in 2001 and based in Italy, DV Games is the company behind Bang!, one of the most successful card games in history, as well as the Deckscape and Decktective series, and the publisher of the tile-placement game Bonsai.
